There’s a video on YouTube that describes society very adequately by likening it to the life cycle of a butterfly.

When watching this video, you will get a better understanding of our mission here at P.O.W.E.R - creating a more sufficient society, letting go of the old, working together towards a beautiful, sustainable future.

Power Conversations with Leaders

Kissmea Charles, CEO and Founder of P.O.W.E.R. (Propagation of Women’s Empowerment Resources) together with her team, hosted another fun and successful evening that brought together leaders and women, that wouldn’t normally otherwise be possible. The intimate “Conversations with Leaders” event took place at the African Pride 15 on Orange in Cape Town. Women were mentored, interacted with and had the opportunity to network with leaders in a comfortable, intimate setting while enjoying a scrumptious 3 course meal.

Our keynote speaker Sihaam Salie-Abrahams, Director at Grant Thornton Accounting, was warmly welcomed as she inspired and encouraged the participants in attendance to live their best lives possible! Yes, she spoke about the glass ceiling that exists in the business world and the fact that women only own a mere 1% of land on the African continent… but she also focused on self- love and self-respect. “When you take the time out to truly get to know yourself; both your strengths and weaknesses, then no one else can dictate who you are and influence what you’re capable of achieving”, she said. She also highlighted the importance of women in positions of power and influence to join forces and work together across all boundaries; especially to empower younger, promising women to succeed in life.

Leaders included Manie Regal, Executive Dir. Finance, Innovation, Operations and Infrastructure for the University of the Western Cape, Martine Solomon, MD at Mzansi Risk Advisors; Adv. Hishaam Mohammed, Regional Head of Justice and Constitutional Development for the Western Cape; Andre Charles, CEO at The Charles Group; Sihaam Salie-Abrahams, Dir. At Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants and our host, Ms. Kissmea Charles. A special thanks to our sponsors, Cape Cobra Leathercraft, HAIR CAIR Distributor, La Luna Events and Essays of Africa.
